Natural Bone: The industry standard for high-end setups. Offering superior hardness and non-porous density, bone provides optimal energy transfer and a balanced frequency response. Its mechanical resistance ensures that string slots maintain their profile longer under high tension.
Brass: Ideal for instruments requiring maximum attack and brightness. Brass offers the highest density in our catalog, resulting in extreme sustain and a distinct metallic clarity. It is the preferred choice for guitars with high-gain configurations or where maximum durability is required.
Graph Tech TUSQ® and NuBone®: Man-made ivory and bone substitutes developed to provide a consistent density that is often lacking in natural materials. TUSQ is specifically formulated to enhance harmonic transfer and sustain by efficiently coupling string vibration to the neck or bridge. In its XL configuration, the material is vacuum-impregnated with PTFE, creating a self-lubricating surface that effectively eliminates string binding. NuBone offers a similar tonal profile, bridging the gap between standard synthetics and high-end composites, ensuring a balanced frequency response and reliable workability for professional acoustic and electric setups.
Graphite-Infused Composite: A versatile, budget-friendly alternative. This material consists of a synthetic base with graphite content to reduce friction. While softer and more pliable than bone or brass, it provides excellent self-lubricating properties. It is an ideal entry-level upgrade for eliminating tuning pings without the cost of high-density composites.
