Thread Types and Standards:
To avoid stripping threads or damaging wood, it is essential to select the correct fastener type:
Wood Screws: Featuring sharp, wide threads designed to bite into the guitar body or neck. Used primarily for mounting tuners, pickguards, strap buttons, and vintage-style bridges.
Machine Screws (Metric & Imperial): Used for components that thread into metal inserts or nuts, such as pickup height adjustments, bridge saddles, and switch mountings. We stock both Metric (M2.5, M3, etc.) for import hardware and Imperial/US (3-48, 4-40, etc.) for American-made components.
Neck Bolts: Heavy-duty screws designed specifically for bolt-on neck joints, ensuring a rigid and stable connection to the body.
Head Styles and Dimensions:
Head Geometry: Our range includes countersunk (oval/flat head) screws for a flush finish on pickguards and plates, as well as round-head screws where appropriate.
Drive Types: Most of our fasteners use standard Phillips or Slotted drives, while specific bridge and saddle height screws utilize Hex (Allen) drives for precision adjustment.
Technical Tip:
Always verify if your hardware requires Metric or Imperial threads before installation. Using a Metric screw in a US-threaded component (or vice versa) will cross-thread and destroy the part. When installing new wood screws into a neck or body, we highly recommend drilling a pilot hole to prevent the wood from cracking.
